Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT 141213
Welcome
I'm glad you're here.
Many people come to therapy feeling unseen, misunderstood, or unsure of how to make sense of what they've been carrying. You may have learned to stay strong, to push through discomfort, or to put others' needs before your own, even when it felt painful or exhausting. Reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and taking this step matters.
I'm Faith Yoo
I'm a Los Angeles-based psychotherapist who works with teens and adults navigating the effects of trauma, sexual abuse, and intergenerational patterns. I provide a calm, supportive space where you can begin to feel seen, understood, and accepted, without pressure to have everything figured out.
As an Asian American therapist, I understand how cultural values, family expectations, and silence around emotions can shape the way we relate to ourselves and others. My work is grounded in empathy, cultural awareness, and respect for your lived experiences. Together, we gently explore what has impacted you and support meaningful, lasting healing.
A bit about my work
Many of my clients come to therapy feeling weighed down by shame, self-criticism, or a sense of responsibility for others' emotions. You may notice difficulty trusting yourself, setting boundaries, or feeling truly at ease. These experiences often make sense in the context of trauma and family dynamics.
In therapy, we work at a pace that feels safe and supportive. I help clients develop greater self-compassion, understand how past experiences show up in the present, and begin to feel more grounded and connected in their lives. You don't need to minimize your pain or explain yourself here, your story is held with care.
Education and experience
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University. Over the past 7 years, I've gained extensive clinical experience through thousands of face-to-face client hours working with teens and adults in individual, couples, and family therapy settings.
My clinical work has included supporting sexual abuse survivors, individuals impacted by intergenerational trauma, and those navigating identity, family relationships, and emotional healing.
A message to you
You deserve to look in the mirror and really love yourself for ALL your experiences, even the difficult ones. Healing does not mean forgetting what happened; it means learning how to relate to yourself with greater understanding, acceptance, and care.
Therapy is a place where you don't have to carry everything alone. Together, we can work towards healing that feels steady, respectful, and meaningful to you.
